Benson, Arizona Benson, Arizona is a small, rural town with a population of just under 5,000 people. Benson is located in Cochise County in the heart of historic Southern Arizona. This rural town is mainly a ranching and agricultural community. Benson, AZ is east of Tucson, right off the I-10. The area provides important services to travellers on Interstate 10. It is a gateway for tourists visiting southeastern Arizona. Every year snowbirds trying to escape the winters in their home state will stay at one of the many different campgrounds in town. There is not much to do in Benson. Other nearby interesting towns can easily be reached in a small amount of time. It is about an hour drive to Mexico. You now need a passport to enter Mexico. Nearby towns with great western and mining history are Tombstone, Bisbee, Willcox, Sierra Vista, Fort Huachuca. You can pick vegetables and apples in Willcox. Fort Huachuca has an interesting museum on the army base. The OK corral is located in Tombstone. Bisbee has a mining museum and mine tours.
