Herend Fishnet Figurines By Web Master of Tucson Tiques Collectible Stuff The artistry and tradition of Herend began under the direction of Moric Fischer in the mid-1800s. Herend has been renowned since 1826 for beautiful porcelain hand-painted with exquisite detailing. The name Herend is derived from a small Hungarian village not far from Budapest, Hungary. Collectors can obtain the famous Herend Fishnet figurines at http://tucsontiques.com. The fishnet design which adorns many of today's Herend figurines took form in 1874. After observing an old porcelain plate with a design of a fish with intricate scales, the artist painted a rooster figurine, with a black fishnet pattern imitating feathers. Todays figurines are available with the fishnet painted from head to toe. Herend Fishnet Figurines became popular in the 1950s.
